feeling loved and secured

So I was telling my boy is big now that he flew with my mum without hubby and me. He was ambitious and independent to stay overnight with his grandparents. But just as I was about to sleep last night, my phone rang! Xuan was crying because he missed home and he missed me!! That’s so cute of him! Then, mum texted me that he cried for a while and fell into sleep.

I once read an article about parenting. It says the bonding between a child and their parents is determined by the distance when they are sleeping. That says, when we are sleeping, the kids will come to us unintentionally because they want to be close with us, feeling secured and loved. I can totally relate this because I too, bunked in with my parents’ when I was a teen due to the exam pressure I faced at the school. Somehow, I felt so much better and calmer after co-sleeping with them for almost a week. Since then, I believe that my parents are my confidence booster. My kids will always come to me at their bedtime, leaving me a very small space to sleep. I can’t even change my posture because each posture will probably wake them up. Also they, especially Cheng, will get up in the middle of the night to squeeze a space between me and the baby sister or probably bolster, and hug me to sleep. This is just exactly how sweet they are and this phase won’t last long.
