Not a gardener

The Chinese New Year, although is a happy and happening occasion, it also means a drier and hotter weather in Malaysia. The weather is always warmer and has no single drop of rain. The moment we stepped into our house after arriving in Malaysia really saddened us to see the dying plants at our garden. My hubby was annoyed so he decided to return some of the pots to my mil. Meanwhile, the daisies that we thought would probably die when we were away, blossomed and survived gracefully. It just tells us that daisy does not need a lot of water at all and can survive on his own.

Clearly, my right hand had not been doing his work when we were away. Even the pandan leaves which my father claimed is the easiest plant in the world, was dying. To tell the story of this pandan, it was brought over from Kelantan by my mum and she helped me to look after it when it was still a baby. When it was brought here, most of us were admitted at the hospital for the dengue and it was abandoned at a corner in my house, with totally no water and sunlight at all. After we got discharged, mum took some time to transfer it to a pot and watered the plant everyday. From a dying plant, it began to grow each day. Few weeks before our trip, I realised the pandan grew too big and was going to outgrow the pot. I thought it could hold on to its own until our return but I was wrong. So it decided to die on us. Hubby was clearing the leaves and I hope it can still be saved. I'm really hopeful so I'm hoping my hubby will remember to water the pandan everyday in order to rescue it.

Besides the pandan and daisy, we also have ixora and orange jasmine which surprisingly survive on its own except the grass which turned yellow to welcome our return. It was not that bad after all. The grass went back to its own shape after we watered it and has been all good since then. But hubby was disappointed and thought the problems could have been avoided if we had not had the garden at all. Hang on there, mr hubby. Baby steps to learn to be a gardener...
