Self-entitlement

Parenthood is all about dealing with dilemmas. We are in a dilemma to take the kids to places because we do not want them to feel self-entitled all the times. But at the same time, it shouldn’t be a reward because the efforts should come naturally from them. So right after we came back from our holiday, Xuan told us that he wanted to go to savanna to see zebras, savanna like Africa. I’m surprised it came from him, that’s the place that I long to go but I probably won’t make it for the rest of my life. He probably learnt it from the school or TV. But we should be proud that he was brave enough to share his thought and accept changes because Xuan is timid by nature. He dares not to try new things, even it means going to a new restaurant. But few days ago, he proposed that we should go to Italy for holiday, getting the idea from Peppa Pig. Kids nowadays are full of brilliant ideas, leaving the parents struggle in dilemma whether to take them along!
